Sennai and Ruth Mussie, newly weds who were on a romantic walk on the streets of San Francisco in North Beach are congratulated by hundreds of Santas in the street. The Cacophony Society staged the first SantaCon (Also known as Santa Archy) in San Francisco in 1994 by which several dozen people dressed in cheap Santa costumes took the city by storm performing publicly on the street and in bars. By 2003, the event grew into a phenomenon participated in 30 cities, 5 countries with hundreds of SantaÕs at each event. This YearÕs Santacon gathered at Pier 39 at 10am on Saturday. Approximately 400 SantaÕs took the ferry to Oakland while the remaining approximate 250 made their way pub-crawling through FishermanÕs Warf and into Grant Street on North Beach. At about 3:20pm SF Police arrived to control the crowd and maintain safety but the street party kept going. Eventually the massive crowd of mischievous from both Oakland and San Francisco gathered at The Irish Bank and Union Square for one final round of fun and melee.
