Pig racing was one of many events that entertained the public at the San Mateo County Fair, which opened its gate Friday for the first time. The Ham Bone Express, which puts on the race, is a traveling show that tours different fairs around the country. It is their third year of participation in the San Mateo County Fair. Several races are held, each with different types of pigs competing to be the one to get an Oreo cookie. Last year over140,000 people visited the San Mateo County Fair and this year attendance is expected to exceed that by 10,000. The fair runs through Sunday August 19th.
