Members of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a gay community rights group of men dressed as nuns with elaborately decorated faces, parades down market streets. The Theme of this yearÕs Pride Parade was, ÒPride Not Prejudice.Ó The event, which has been running every year consecutively since 1972 under various names, was expected to reach 1 million attendees this year. Hundreds of Parade contingents paraded 9 blocks down Market Street from Beale St to 8th street. Contingents ranged from corporate sponsors, to regional ethnic dance groups and everything in between, all in support of the Gay, Lesbian and Transgender community. Even SF Mayor Gavin Newsom had his own contingent in the parade as he jogged along shaking hands with people in the public.
